Workshop Details

An introduction to multi-shaft weaving. Join us and explore the weave structures you can create on a table loom! Students will learn how to wind a warp, to dress a 4-shaft table loom, to weave two plain weave and twill dishcloths, and finish them with fringe or a hem. They will also have the opportunity to try out a floor loom and weave an overshot mug rug. Three weaving samples (two dishcloth samplers and a mug rug) will be completed during the three-day workshop. 4-shaft table looms will be provided for use by each student as well as all other necessary equipment needed to warp and weave your samples. 2/8 cotton weaving yarn will be provided. Concepts learned in this workshop will also be useful when weaving on a floor loom and students will receive a booklet with information on warping, copies of the weaving drafts used and resources.
