Workshop Details

This class will teach you how to make a felted ring using basic felting skills including using a resist. The centre, hidden under the wool, is a flat object like a stone, a button, a piece of glass or a keepsake. It has to be flat and a size suitable for wearing on your finger. This is a class for both beginners and those with advanced skills. We will begin with a single layer opening and when time prevails, we can work on a second piece with two openings. The option to embellish the finished ring with stitching is also available. Date: March 21 Time: 10-2 pm Location: Studio 204 in the RCA Please bring a treasure for the centre of the ring. The rest of the supplies will be provided by the instructor. Guild Members use Coupon Code FIBREART2021 at checkout for $10 off this workshop. Instructor Bio: Judith is a visual and fibre artist with a BFA from UBCO. She has been exploring colour and texture for many years and uses many disciplines in her work. Her journey has taken her from plant dyes to commerical dyes on all the fibres and fabrics she can find. She spent many years felting and nuno-felting and weaves that into her art pieces. Slow stitching is a way, for her, to combine her many loves in to a visual image. Her love of abstract stitich comes from her many years of painting.
