Workshop Details
In this workshop participants will be weaving three washcloths on a single warp. A different weaving technique will be used on each washcloth. Techniques demonstrated are: Waffle Weave without border, Waffle Weave with Border, and Clasp Weft Weaving. Participants should be familiar with warping their loom and basic process of weaving. This class is great to use up little bits of stash or clearance bin treasures that you have. Cotton, bamboo, linen, blends that are not enough for anything else, this is a great idea to use them up and possibly make some homemade gifts. The class will be taught by Patti Roberts. Patti has been a fiber artist for over 40 years with her focus being knitting. She joined the Ponderosa Weaving and Spinners in July 2021 to focus on learning to weave and expanding her knowledge of natural fibers. Date: March 3 Time: 9:30 - 4:00 with a half hour lunch You will need: 400 yards DK or Sports weight, or equivalent of cotton, or cotton blended with bamboo, acrylic, linen or other synthetic fibre. They can be any colours you wish to work with, even variegated. Please stay away from wool, wool blends, silk, or other delicate fibres. 200 yards will be used as warp and 200 yards will be used as weft so they can be different colours and different yarns. Yarns should be smooth. For the clasp project it is good to have a third colour. You can bring your own or trade with someone at the course. An equivalent would be two strands of Fingering weight. Remember if you choose fingering for your entire project you will need double the amount. 800 yards cotton, or cotton blended with bamboo, acrylic, linen or other synthetic fibre. The guild has 4 Rigid Heddle Looms participants can rent, please let us know if you will need to rent a loom so we can hold it for you.
