Workshop Details

The weaving of narrow bands, tapes and trims have a long history that sometimes gets lost in the history of more complex textiles and looms but they were essential prior to the invention of closures like zippers and buttons. This class will teach students how to warp and weave on an inkle loom, make heddles, read a draft for a band, and plan a project. A simple band will be made but the instructor will bring examples of more complex options for students to explore in the future. Materials will be supplied though students are encouraged to bring their own inkle loom if they have one. No weaving experience is needed. The guild has 3 inkle looms that you can borrow for this class. Please let the instructor know if you need to borrow a loom for the class. you can contact Flannery at flannerysurette@gmail.com Date: October 21 Time: 10:00am - 3:00pm Materials: supplied by the instructor Guild Members use coupon code FIBREART2021 at checkout for $10 off this workshop.
